About the Team

The Developer Impact team boosts the effectiveness and velocity of Zapier’s engineering organization by improving developer workflows, tooling, and processes. We focus on AI-powered developer experiences and cutting-edge productivity tooling, taking a hypothesis-driven, experimental approach to eliminate friction across the software development lifecycle. We partner closely with other platform and product engineering teams to create a seamless, high-velocity developer impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain internal products that improve developer productivity and flow, building across the stack from command-line utilities and IDE extensions to web dashboards and APIs.
• Build and integrate AI-powered experiences that augment how engineers build, test, and deploy software.
• Partner with engineers across the company to understand friction points, conduct interviews, and gather feedback to inform priorities and balance immediate pain with scalable solutions.
• Help define and promote standard, high-velocity development patterns by maintaining service templates, example apps, and internal frameworks.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Reliability teams to enhance CI/CD and developer workflows, optimizing build caching, implementing smarter test runners, or integrating automated quality checks.
• Dogfood the tools you build, gathering quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback to assess impact and guide iteration.
• Contribute to developer documentation and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development experience, including 2+ years in a senior or tech lead role, with fluency across the full stack (backend services, APIs, responsive frontend interfaces using modern frameworks).
• Experience building tools, frameworks, or infrastructure that other developers rely on daily, with a holistic understanding of developer workflows from local dev to CI/CD.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development (e.g., AI pair programmers, code review bots, ML-driven CI optimization) and eagerness to explore practical ways AI can improve engineering velocity.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment that values experimentation, using data and feedback to validate ideas and iterate quickly.
• Strong collaboration skills, working closely with engineers across platform and product teams to identify pain points and co-create solutions.
• Commitment to writing great documentation, sharing best practices, and raising the bar for engineering excellence.
• Strong systems thinking, understanding how decisions in CI/CD, testing, infrastructure, or local dev environments ripple through the broader engineering ecosystem.
