Senior Manager, Category Narrative

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic leader to define and champion the category narrative for Affirm, shaping how the world understands the future of consumer credit and financial choice. This role is a unique opportunity to influence public perception, policy, and market positioning by crafting a compelling, honest, and accurate story that resonates with consumers and stakeholders alike.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the overarching category narrative to ensure consistency across press, earnings calls, and policy engagements.
• Develop comprehensive messaging frameworks that articulate Affirm's value proposition in the context of the broader credit ecosystem.
• Partner closely with Legal, Policy, and Product teams to ensure messaging is both legally sound and narratively powerful.
• Proactively identify and address consumer trust friction points to turn them into brand-building opportunities.
• Monitor media, policy, and competitive landscapes to identify narrative risks and lead proactive communication strategies.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in narrative strategy, communications, policy, or financial services.
• Proven track record of shaping complex stories for diverse audiences, including consumers, investors, and regulators.
• Strong editorial instincts with the ability to write and pressure-test messaging under scrutiny.
• Experience navigating highly regulated environments while maintaining a strong, clear brand voice.
• Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills to align stakeholders with competing priorities.

• Experience in category design or building brand narratives for disruptive financial technology products.
• Deep familiarity with global market nuances regarding credit and lending practices.
• Background in public policy or corporate affairs within the fintech sector.
