Senior Manager, Developer Advocacy

About the Role

As Senior Manager, Developer Advocacy, you will lead a team dedicated to inspiring and enabling developers to maximize their productivity with GitLab. This pivotal role combines technical leadership with community impact, driving the creation of compelling content and fostering strong connections within the global developer ecosystem. This is a remote role, open to candidates across North America.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Developer Advocates, fostering a culture of technical excellence and community engagement.
• Define and execute the overall developer advocacy strategy, aligning with product roadmap and business objectives.
• Oversee the creation of high-quality technical content, including blogs, tutorials, demos, and presentations, showcasing GitLab's DevSecOps platform.
• Engage actively with the developer community through various channels, representing GitLab at conferences, meetups, and online forums.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and marketing teams to gather feedback and influence product development.
• Measure and report on the effectiveness of advocacy programs, using data to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Proven experience (5+ years) in developer relations, developer advocacy, or a similar community-facing technical role.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and mentoring technical teams.
• Strong technical background with a deep understanding of DevSecOps principles, software development lifecycle, and cloud-native technologies.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and public speaking skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Experience building and nurturing developer communities.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team environment.
