Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll for employees in Japan, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure full compliance with Japanese labor laws, tax regulations, and social insurance requirements.
• Reconcile payroll data, prepare reports, and manage month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Act as a primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and clients.
• Collaborate with internal teams (HR, Finance) and external partners (tax authorities, social insurance offices).
• Maintain meticulous payroll records and documentation.
• Support internal and external payroll audits.

Requirements

• Proven experience (3+ years) managing end-to-end payroll specifically for Japan.
• In-depth knowledge of Japanese labor law, tax regulations, and social insurance systems.
• Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills in both Japanese (native or business fluent) and English.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.

• Experience with global payroll platforms or Employer of Record (EOR) services.
• Basic accounting knowledge related to payroll.
