Senior Relationship Manager - Accounting Partners

About the Role

Join our dedicated team to serve as a strategic partner to accounting firms, helping them optimize their workflows and drive value for their clients on the Mercury platform. This role is a unique opportunity to act as the primary relationship owner for accounting firms, shaping how they leverage our financial infrastructure to support modern businesses.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary relationship owner for a portfolio of accounting firms, building trust with principals and practitioners to ensure platform success.
• Map firm client networks and proactively identify opportunities to improve product utilization and drive adoption of key features.
• Execute structured success plans, business reviews, and proactive check-ins to surface friction and ensure firms realize the full value of Mercury.
• Act as the internal voice of the accounting partner, translating practitioner feedback into actionable insights for our Product and Marketing teams.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in customer success, relationship banking, or fintech account management with a proven track record of driving retention.
• 3+ years of direct experience working with or inside accounting firms, with a deep understanding of firm operations and practitioner workflows.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger systems, bank reconciliations, and accounting principles (accrual vs. cash basis).
• Familiarity with the accounting technology ecosystem, including tools like QuickBooks, Xero, and NetSuite.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both finance leaders and staff-level bookkeepers.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in a multi-threaded or account-based coverage model managing both primary accounts and downstream stakeholders.
• Background in commercial banking, treasury management, or venture debt.
• An established network within the accounting or bookkeeping community.
• Experience designing or iterating on customer success playbooks and scalability experiments.
