Senior Site Reliability Engineer (L3)

About the Role

Join CoinGecko as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the stability and scalability of our leading cryptocurrency data platform, playing a critical role in shaping the future of decentralized finance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee system architecture, ensuring best practices are consistently applied across teams.
• Own and meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), driving operational excellence through monitoring and improvement plans.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code resources to scale operations and empower other teams.
• Manage and audit security controls, implementing best practices and compliance standards.
• Lead strategic release planning, including canary or blue-green deployments, to minimize risk and enable rapid reversals.
• Drive incident response and post-mortems to resolve production issues and prevent recurrence.
• Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and conduct fault injection simulations.
• Perform and improve daily operational tasks such as access management, configuration, and patch management.
• Plan capacity to ensure systems can handle peak demand while optimizing costs.
• Develop and extend runbooks and technical documentation.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in software development and contribute to knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of software releases.
• Provide feedback on junior staff performance and participate in people development initiatives.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience managing software deployments and instrumentation in production environments with defined SLAs and SLOs.
• Strong knowledge of software delivery and DevOps principles.
• Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, CloudFlare, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Strong programming and scripting skills, preferably in languages such as Python, Go, or Ruby.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, InfoSec, or similar fields, or equivalent professional experience/certifications.
• Ability to take substantial features from concept to shipping as a sole contributor, working effectively in open-ended projects.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks and present data-backed arguments.
• Ability to think critically and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations.
• Strong communication skills with experience supporting on-call rotations for 24x7 services.
