Senior Software Engineer, Back-end

About the Role

Join our Repayment Scheduling team to build and own the systems that automate payments for over 20 million users, processing up to $40B annually. This role offers the unique opportunity to solve complex financial engineering challenges while working in an agile, remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through complex, open-ended technical problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to articulate technical constraints and evaluate trade-offs.
• Foster a culture of high-quality engineering by setting standards for code reviews, design, and system architecture.
• Support system availability and operations by monitoring metrics, managing on-call efforts, and resolving production issues.
• Mentor team members through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Proven track record of building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Strong ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant, extensible designs.
• Proficiency in managing large codebases and implementing tools to ensure safe, efficient development cycles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration within a global engineering team.
