Senior Software Engineer, Backend

About the Role

Join our Partner Merchant Interface (PMI) team as a Senior Backend Software Engineer, working remotely from Canada. You will build the core APIs and solutions that power Affirm's integrations with enterprise merchants and partners, driving critical checkout and merchant onboarding experiences.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into manageable tasks, deliver in multiple phases, and collaborate with peers to ensure timely completion.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle, participating in ideation and articulating technical constraints.
• Contribute to the entire API lifecycle, including designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and evolving our APIs.
• Support the operational availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call rotations.
• Engage in team growth and development activities, such as participating in the interview process.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Proficiency in either Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
