Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Identity Foundations)

About the Role

This Senior Software Engineer, Backend role is crucial for building and maintaining the core identity systems that power consumer onboarding, authentication, and verification across all Affirm products. You'll deliver high-availability, low-latency solutions on critical paths, gaining deep insights into business, product, and engineering contexts.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, guiding engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle, participating in ideation and articulating technical constraints.
• Proactively identify and lead in solving project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating as needed, and contributing to on-call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting and improving code review and design standards, advocating for them through writing and tech talks.
• Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

Requirements

• You have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
