Senior Software Engineer - Banking Integration Platform

About the Role

Join our team to build the critical infrastructure that connects Mercury to the global financial system, ensuring reliable and secure transactions for our users. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture of our banking platform while solving complex integration challenges.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain integrations with FFIEC-approved bank cores and payment networks.
• Design internal APIs that provide clean, consistent interfaces for product teams to interact with complex external systems.
• Manage the realities of enterprise integrations, including retries, failure handling, and data synchronization.
• Own the monitoring, alerting, and recovery processes for critical external connections.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define reliable technical contracts and system boundaries.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Proven experience integrating modern distributed software with legacy infrastructure in highly regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of banking systems, including accounts, transactions, ledgers, and underlying data models.
• Product-minded approach with a focus on developer experience and API design.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on building new systems from the ground up.

• Experience working with Haskell or a strong desire to learn it.
• Deep expertise in building highly reliable, maintainable, and fault-tolerant systems.
