Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Join our Platform and Core Services team as a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate the foundational cloud services and developer tools that power Udacity. We are strong advocates for infrastructure-as-code and strive to automate everything, offering a dynamic opportunity to work across infrastructure, tool development, and support, driving best practices.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage cloud infrastructure, primarily in AWS.
• Develop new tools and services to enhance developer productivity.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other development teams.
• Assist in resolving production service outages.
• Contribute to the migration to a multi-region Kubernetes deployment.

Requirements

• Significant experience with cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS).
• Proficiency in Go, or a strong willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
• Demonstrated experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Docker.
• Ability to read, debug, and occasionally write code in languages such as Typescript, Python, and Ruby.
• A strong commitment to automation and implementing best practices.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with the theory and practice of distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and multi-master database environments.
