Senior Software Engineer, Windows Desktop App

About the Role

Join our engineering team to design, develop, and maintain the next generation of our privacy-focused Windows Desktop Application. This is an exciting opportunity to have a direct impact on a product used by millions seeking a safer browsing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and testing of new features for our core Windows Desktop Application.
• Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code primarily in C++.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to define technical specifications and roadmaps.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving our development processes and code quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance bottlenecks and bugs within the application environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with significant focus on native Windows desktop applications.
• Expert proficiency in C++ and deep understanding of modern C++ standards.
• Proven experience with the Windows API, Win32, and/or modern Windows application frameworks (e.g., UWP, WinUI).
• Strong understanding of application lifecycle management, threading, and memory management on the Windows platform.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies or security-focused software development.
• Familiarity with cross-platform development concepts or tooling.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks for desktop applications.
• Knowledge of modern build systems used for Windows development (e.g., CMake).
