Software Engineer (Delivery)

About the Role

Join our dynamic delivery team as a Software Engineer to build and maintain our innovative Linux distribution (Wolfi) and secure Chainguard container images. This contract role offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse open-source software, build tools, and programming languages, directly impacting the security and efficiency of modern software supply chains.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain melange packages for Wolfi and private repositories, ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
• Create high-quality Chainguard container images for both public and private use, balancing speed and security.
• Design and implement comprehensive automated tests for image deployment and validation.
• Manage and process a prioritized queue of images, meeting project timelines and quality expectations.
• Apply established standards for image production and conduct detailed quality checks before release.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of professional experience working with Linux environments.
• Proven experience packaging software as Linux packages (e.g., APK, RPM).
• Hands-on experience building and debugging container images.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes and Helm charts.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure as code tools, such as Terraform.
• Programming proficiency in at least one language.
• Excellent debugging, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
• A strong passion for quality and meticulous attention to detail.

Role Details

This is a 3-month contract position, with potential for extension to 6 months. This role is fully remote, open to candidates in Europe, India, and the United States.
