Software Engineer II, Back-end

About the Role

Join our team to build and operate the core infrastructure behind Affirm's rapidly growing card products, directly impacting the transaction processing and authorization path for millions of users. You will tackle complex engineering challenges at scale while collaborating across functions to shape the future of our financial technology.

Responsibilities

• Break down complex projects into actionable tasks and deliver high-quality code in iterative phases.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to define technical constraints and evaluate trade-offs.
• Ensure system reliability by monitoring metrics, managing on-call responsibilities, and addressing operational needs.
• Foster a collaborative team environment by participating in code reviews, mentorship, and the engineering interview process.

Requirements

• 1.5+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin with a focus on designing and launching backend systems.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Strong ability to write clear, well-tested, and extensible code while navigating large codebases.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
