Software Engineer II, Backend (Card)

About the Role

Join Affirm's Card team to develop and implement complex backend systems that power a seamless checkout experience for users. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, scalable platforms enabling transparent financing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and launch backend systems.
• Break down larger projects into individual tasks and deliver them in phases.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams.
• Support the operations and availability of team's systems, including on-call rotation.
• Contribute to team growth and development activities, including participation in the interview process.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write high-quality, understandable, and extensible code.
• Experience debugging code and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Strong ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback seeking.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be based in Spain for the role.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with full-stack development (backend and mobile).
• Experience working on in-app experiences for card products.
