Software Engineer II (ML Feature Platform)

About the Role

Join Affirm's ML Feature Platform team to build a delightful, self-serve platform for machine learning and decisioning data, directly impacting business growth and empowering MLEs, Analysts, and decisioning teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and serve features, manage data storage, availability, and visibility, and improve offline backfilling infrastructure.
• Break down large projects into manageable tasks and collaborate with team members for timely delivery.
• Support product development by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics.
• Monitor and maintain the operational health of platform artifacts, including on-call responsibilities.
• Contribute to team growth through participation in the interview process and other development activities.

Requirements

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to translate business scenarios into robust, well-tested, and extensible code.
• Experience navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing constructive code reviews.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

The ML Feature Platform is one of two core teams within Affirm's ML Platform, working in close collaboration with the ML Training & Serving Platform to create a powerful ML + Data flywheel. Our mission is to grow Affirm's business by providing a seamless and efficient platform for feature development and serving.
