Software Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain complex features and components for cloud-based SaaS applications.
• Lead the development of medium to large-sized features, taking ownership from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Architect and implement scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions.
• Proactively identify and address technical debt and architectural improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers, including code reviews and mentoring.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define and refine technical requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, including performance and scalability problems.
• Contribute to the selection and evaluation of new technologies and tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2-4 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in PHP and core programming principles (e.g., OOP, DRY, SOLID).
• Strong experience building and maintaining large-scale, production PHP applications, ideally in a SaaS environment.
• Extensive experience with relational database design and query optimization, particularly with MySQL and large datasets.
• Proven experience designing and operating event-driven and asynchronous systems (background jobs, queues, cron-based workers, webhook ingestion).
• Experience integrating and operating third-party APIs at scale, with a strong understanding of retries and failure handling.
• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Experience monitoring, debugging, and resolving complex production issues in distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of web application security best practices.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants and prompt engineering to accelerate development.
