Sr. Software Engineer, Backend (Integration Quality)

About the Role

Join Zapier's Engineering team as a Senior Backend Engineer focused on Integration Quality, playing a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our core platform integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable backend services specifically focused on integration testing and quality assurance frameworks.
• Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve integration failures across our platform.
• Collaborate closely with Integration Engineers and Product teams to define quality standards and improve the end-to-end reliability of third-party connections.
• Troubleshoot complex, distributed system issues related to data flow, latency, and consistency between integrated services.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, preferably within a high-volume, distributed system environment.
• Deep expertise in at least one major backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Java).
• Proven experience building or significantly contributing to automated testing frameworks, integration testing suites, or quality assurance tooling.
• Strong understanding of API design (REST/GraphQL), data modeling, and database technologies (SQL/NoSQL).

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience working with cloud infrastructure providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Prior experience in the workflow automation or iPaaS space.
