About the Role

Join our Developer Experience team as a Staff Backend Engineer, where you will leverage your deep Ruby expertise to significantly enhance the productivity and satisfaction of developers. This pivotal remote role involves shaping the tools and infrastructure that empower our engineering teams to deliver exceptional software across various global time zones (APAC, Canada, EMEA, Netherlands, United Kingdom).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust and scalable backend services using Ruby, focusing on improving the developer experience.
• Identify and implement solutions to optimize developer workflows, internal tooling, and platform capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical specifications, and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Drive architectural discussions and contribute to the technical strategy for developer-facing systems.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the performance, reliability, security, and maintainability of critical developer infrastructure.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience as a Backend Engineer, with a strong focus on Ruby and related frameworks.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and scaling complex backend systems.
• Deep understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experience with improving developer productivity through tooling, APIs, or platform development.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a capacity for technical leadership.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), and modern CI/CD practices.
