Staff Brand Designer

About the Role

Mercury is seeking a Staff Brand Designer to set the standard for our visual identity and lead high-visibility creative projects. You will play a pivotal role in defining our aesthetic philosophy, ensuring that our design work remains thoughtful, precise, and industry-leading.

Responsibilities

• Set and uphold the craft standard for Mercury's brand across all channels, including web, social, and events.
• Lead complex, high-visibility brand design projects from initial brief through final delivery.
• Provide hands-on craft oversight and mentorship to designers, helping to elevate the quality of output across the Brand Studio.
• Develop brand system documentation and frameworks to ensure consistency and scale as the company grows.
• Partner with creative leadership to evolve our visual direction, including typography, imagery, and motion.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of brand design experience in high-craft environments such as agencies, fashion, or design-forward tech companies.
• A portfolio demonstrating mastery of typography, layout, color, and composition.
• Proven experience operating at a staff level, including influencing without authority and autonomous decision-making.
• Proficiency in Figma and hands-on experience contributing to or owning a design system.
• Strong verbal and presentation skills to communicate design intent and impact clearly.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience commissioning and art-directing external creatives like photographers, illustrators, and motion designers.
• A deep understanding of brand strategy and its application across diverse digital and physical touchpoints.
