Staff Frontend Engineer

About the Role

Join our Adaptive Telemetry group as a Staff Frontend Engineer to shape the product and technical direction of solutions that optimize telemetry data for Grafana Cloud. You will provide technical leadership and guidance, contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture.

Responsibilities

• Influence the product roadmap and personal career objectives.
• Lead projects through their entire lifecycle, from ideation to delivery.
• Deliver new features, iterate, and improve based on results.
• Contribute to projects beyond your immediate team's scope.
• Mentor and support team members, participating in design discussions.
• Write and review pull requests and design documents to refine the user interface.
• Foster a positive team culture of collaboration and psychological safety.
• Deepen understanding of our cloud product and customer needs.

Requirements

• Customer-focused approach with a passion for creating intuitive products.
• Ability to break down complex challenges and deliver iterative, modular solutions.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially in a remote environment.
• Proven experience guiding and supporting engineers, leading initiatives, and driving projects to success.
• Solid experience developing web applications, ideally with React.
• Solid experience writing and maintaining unit and end-to-end tests using modern testing frameworks.
• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience working with TanStack and Playwright.
• Experience developing Grafana plugins.
• Familiarity with backend programming languages like Go.
• Prior experience as a user of Grafana or other observability applications.

About the Team

The Adaptive Telemetry group ensures that all data stored in our databases (Mimir for metrics, Loki for logs, Tempo for traces, Pyroscope for profiles) is valuable. We develop Adaptive Metrics, Logs, Traces, and Profiles solutions that empower users to control and optimize their telemetry data, ensuring only the most valuable information is retained. Our solutions include Grafana plugins, which are Typescript applications developed with React and tested with Jest and Playwright.
