Staff Machine Learning Engineer

About the Role

Join Affirm's Portfolio ML team to reinvent credit by optimizing loan opportunities and building advanced models that balance unit economics, product growth, and user experience. This role is crucial for managing and optimizing the flow of loan opportunities across Affirm-owned properties.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale, aligning it with critical, business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate across product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability, manage risks, and understand trade-offs.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes.
• Take ownership of team operations and availability, ensuring robust monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, testing, and alerting for on-call support.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting and advocating for code review and design standards within and beyond the team.
• Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 8+ years of industry experience (relevant PhD can count for up to 2 years of experience).
