Staff Software Engineer, Data Engineering

About the Role

Join our innovative Data Engineering team as a Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and optimize the critical data infrastructure that powers our platform. Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver robust data solutions.
• Ensure the integrity, security, and performance of our data systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall technical strategy of the data engineering team.
• Drive initiatives to optimize data storage, processing, and analytics capabilities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of building and managing large-scale data platforms.
• Expert proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Deep expertise with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, Hadoop ecosystem).
• Strong command of SQL and experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data services (e.g., AWS S3, Redshift, EMR; Azure Data Lake, Synapse; GCP BigQuery, Dataflow).
• Demonstrated leadership in technical project delivery and architectural decision-making.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with real-time data streaming platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka, Kinesis).
• Familiarity with data governance, data cataloging, and metadata management tools.
• Contributions to open-source data projects or a strong technical blog/portfolio.

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time remote position. We have a strong preference for candidates located on the West Coast of the United States or Canada to facilitate team collaboration.
