Join Affirm's Checkout Experience team as a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, to shape delightful user experiences at the core of our innovative buy-now-pay-later platform. You'll drive technical strategy and collaborate internationally to ensure users have flexible and financially healthy payment options. This is a remote position based in Poland.
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long time scale, aligning it with critical, business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate across product management, design, and analytics teams to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are well understood and managed.
- Act as a force-multiplier for your team by defining and advocating for robust technical solutions and operational processes.
- Take ownership of your team’s operations and availability, ensuring proper monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place for on-call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards for your team, and advocating for them through writing and tech talks.
- Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in frontend software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex user-facing applications.
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute technical strategy at a team level.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally with product, design, and analytics.
- Experience with operational excellence, including setting up and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and on-call rotations for production systems.
- Proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a high-quality engineering culture.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining UIs and APIs that power critical user experiences.
About the Team
As part of the Checkout Experience team, you will be instrumental in maintaining the UIs and APIs that power all Affirm checkout experiences. You will work alongside multiple partner teams across the US and Europe, supporting feature development and driving key metrics to ensure Affirm users can pay in the way they want, without harming their financial health.
