About the Role

Join Affirm's Checkout Experience team as a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, to build and maintain delightful user interfaces and APIs that power our core checkout experiences. In this remote role based in Spain, you will contribute to making credit more honest and friendly for consumers worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long timescale, aligning it with critical business objectives.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability, manage risks, and understand trade-offs.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating for robust technical solutions and operational processes.
• Take ownership of team operations and availability, implementing monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, and alerting for on-call support.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting and advocating for code review and design standards.
• Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
• Participate in on-call rotations.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Staff or Senior Staff Software Engineer in frontend development.
• Strong expertise in designing, building, and maintaining user interfaces and APIs.
• Ability to define and execute technical strategy for complex systems.
• Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Analytics).
• Demonstrated leadership in operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call support.
• Commitment to quality, with experience in setting and enforcing coding and design standards.
• Mentorship and talent development skills.

About the Team

• The Checkout Experience team is responsible for the delightful user experiences at the core of all Affirm checkout processes.
• You will work with multiple partner teams across the US and Europe to develop features and improve key metrics, ensuring users can pay in a way that supports their financial health.
• This is a remote position based in Spain.
