Staff Technical Program Manager (FinOps)

About the Role

This Staff Technical Program Manager role, situated within the Office of the CTO, offers a unique opportunity to drive strategic FinOps initiatives across our global operations. You will be instrumental in optimizing cloud spend and fostering a culture of financial accountability in a fully remote environment, open to candidates in Canada and EMEA.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex FinOps programs from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial targets.
• Collaborate with engineering, finance, and product teams to identify cost optimization opportunities and implement best practices for cloud resource utilization.
• Develop and maintain FinOps frameworks, policies, and tools to enhance visibility, control, and forecasting of cloud expenditures.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve cloud cost governance, reporting, and anomaly detection.
• Communicate program status, risks, and achievements to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in technical program management, with a significant focus on FinOps or cloud cost management.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their cost models, billing, and optimization strategies.
• Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision making.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or other relevant certifications.
• Experience with FinOps tools and platforms (e.g., CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, Kubecost).
• Background in software engineering or cloud architecture.
• Experience working within an Office of the CTO or similar strategic technical function.
